Paloma Faith Unveils New Stories for Alexa Skill ‘Paloma’s Bedtime’

9 June, London: Double Platinum and BRIT Award-winning artist Paloma Faith revisits her pioneering Alexa Skill ‘Paloma’s Bedtime’ to add new premium stories and re-recordings. The skill helps parents send their little ones off to sleep with a host of tales, lullabies, sleep sounds and goodnight messages, all within the Amazon Alexa.

The world’s first artist Alexa Skill, ‘Paloma’s Bedtime’ builds upon its initial launch through the addition of premium content — the first time a Sony Music artist-led skill has utilised Amazon’s new technology of ‘In-Skill Purchasing’, allowing additional content to be bought directly through Alexa. It’s a first step in testing new commercial models in voice technology.

With three newly added narrations of classic children’s stories, parents are able to purchase ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and ‘The Tale of Mrs Tiggy Winkle’ together for £1.99 directly through their voice assistant. They can also listen to a free taster of the newly added premium content with Paloma’s recording of the classic tale, ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’. The update also includes re-recordings of the skill’s navigation to streamline the available options based on user feedback.  

Following the birth of her second child, Paloma’s new expansion further explores the capabilities of Amazon’s Alexa as a tool to assist parents with young children, especially with school’s reopening, meaning that a good night’s sleep is now more important than ever.

On the skill’s expansion, Paloma says: “I know too well how hard it can be being torn between work and kids or kids and other kids and so I’ve decided to take some of the strain off and read your kids bedtime stories to them for you. Heck, I may even use it myself and sneak out for a wine, who knows! Anyway, hope it helps, love Paloma x”

The skill still features all of its most popular features, including Paloma’s audio recordings of Roald Dahl's ‘Revolting Rhymes’ and an acoustic version of 'Lullaby', which peaked at #7 in the UK singles chart.

‘Paloma’s Bedtime’ is a skill launched by RCA UK and 4th Floor Creative, both divisions of Sony Music Entertainment UK.

‘Paloma’s Bedtime’ is available in India, Canada, Australia, US and UK. In-Skill Purchasing is available for users in the US and UK only.
