Cream of Canadian Music comes to London

    -   Saskatchewan creative industries body hosts trade mission    -   Delegates to hold 100+ meetings, including with AIM, MMF, UK Music and Arts Council    England    -   Week-long activities include gigs at Dalston’s Birthdays and Servant Jazz Quarters    -   Artists playing include Zachary Lucky, The Pistolwhips and Library Voices

 25th September, 2014 - Canadian cultural industries body Creative Saskatchewan is to host a trade mission in London from 13^th to 17^th October, where delegates will meet with executives from UK creative public bodies and private companies, with the aim of boosting awareness of Saskatchewan music.

Bookended with opening and closing receptions, the trade mission will also include music shows at Dalston venues Birthdays and Servant Jazz Quarters and a meet up for sync professionals.The delegation includes Creative Saskatchewan CEO John-Paul Ellson and SaskMusic Executive Director Derek Bachman, as well as representatives from other creative industries. They will be hosting over 100 meetings with executives from the UK creative industries including AIM’s Alison Wenham, UK Music’s Tom Kiehl, Arts Council England’s Alan Davey, the MMF’s Jon Webster, Cooking Vinyl’s Paul Kinder, AIF/Graphite Media’s Ben Turner, [PIAS]’s Steve Rose and BBH’s Ayla Owen.There will also be a special visit to the Canadian High Commission to visit Alan Kessel, Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.An opening reception will take place at Soho House on Monday 13^th October, featuring a short acoustic set from singer-songwriter Zachary Lucky. The following evening (Tuesday 14^th), Saskatoon rockers The Pistolwhips will perform at Dalston’s Birthdays. The band blend indie rock with blues sensibilities, and travel to London after a string of Canadian dates in support of album ‘On Your Side’, released this July.On Wednesday 15^th, Zachary Lucky will play a full set of his brand of outlaw country at Servant Jazz Quarters, also in Dalston. Currently touring his 2013 album ‘The Ballad of Losing You’ across the US and Canada, Lucky will also play in Falmouth, Sheffield, Glasgow and Leeds in October before another string of North American dates.Both gigs will feature a supporting acoustic set from Library Voices, and be preceded by VIP industry mixers.On Thursday 16^th October, SaskMusic will host SyncDrinks at the King’s Head Social Club, Haggerston, for representatives from music, film, advertising and TV agencies.To finish proceedings, there will be a closing reception at Hoxton Grill Garden on Friday 17^th.Said Derek Bachman, SaskMusic’s Executive Director: “It is a pleasure to be able to share some of the best music from a province of Canada that is brimming with culture.
