The Forum Hertfordshire Launches Local Band Initiative

  • Monthly gig night ’Hatfield Rocks launching 10th October 2013 to foster local talent
  • Sonic Boom Six to headline opening night with local support - Fallow Fields and Supernothing
  • Aims to give young local acts the opportunity to play with professional touring artists

7th August:- On Thursday 10th October The Forum Hertfordshire is launching ‘Hatfield Rocks’, a monthly gig night to give local talent the opportunity to play with professional artists in a high-specification venue. The opening night will be headlined by Sonic Boom Six with local support Fallow Fields and Supernothing. The 14+ night will take place in the venue’s 320 capacity performance space with state of the art specs, the Attic. There will be a regular format of three local acts supporting one large headline band – this gives local acts exposure to larger audiences whilst offering insight into how professional touring artists operate on a gig-to-gig basis.Sonic Boom Six, the act that will launch Hatfield Rocks, was described by Kerrang! as "taking ska, pop, grime, dubstep, punk and metal apart, then rebuilding them as a hyperactive hybrid” and with a live show known for "clashing activism and good times".Hailing from a region that boasts such rock royalty as Enter Shikari, the first two Hertfordshire acts announced to take the stage under Sonic Boom Six are pop-punkers Fallow Fields whose video has appeared on Kerrang! TV and Scuzz, and three-piece ska/punk band Supernothing. A third band will be announced in the run up to the launch night.Lee Welsh, Entertainment & Events manager at The Forum Hertfordshire, believes that this new initiative is vital to give lesser known local acts the confidence to perform at a professional level: “Hatfield Rocks will strengthen a local scene already made up of substantial young talent and will hopefully propel them to the next stage in their career. By giving them the opportunity to play with touring acts in a professional environment, we aim to give them a real taste of how the live touring circuit operates.About The Forum HertfordshireThe Forum Hertfordshire opened its doors in 2009, a custom build from scratch.
