WeGotTickets Showcase Returns to Edinburgh

Following its successful launch last year, 2013’s Edinburgh Fringe sees the return of the WeGotTickets Edinburgh Showcase, a celebration of grassroots comedy featuring the winners of lauded comedy awards throughout the year.The event will feature performances from 2013’s most exciting new comic talent, including the winners of the WeGotTickets Laughing Horse New Act, the WeGotTickets Laughing Horse Brighton Fringe New Act, Funny Women Awards and the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards competitions. The event will take place on Wednesday 14th August, at Maggie’s Front Room in the Three Sisters. A featured compere will be announced later in the year.The showcase is a culmination of the ongoing investment that WeGotTickets makes into the comedy market each year through its sponsorship of competitions and awards: including this year’s Laughing Horse New Act of the Year. The first heats began across the country in November last year; the quarter finals will take place this February and March; the semi finals commence in April and the Grand Final will be held at the Camden Highlight on the 26th May, compered by Imran Yusuf.  More information can be found here: http://bit.ly/SGTaxW.On the 5th April, the Bloomsbury Theatre will be home to the final of the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards, with heats and semi-finals being hosted at the Wilmington Arms across February and March. Now in its fifth year, the WeGotTickets Musical Comedy Awards (MCAs) have grown in stature to now display some of the UK's finest up and coming musical comedians. The MCAs have previously provided a launch pad to superstar acts like Frisky and Mannish, Abandoman and Jay Foreman, and hosted stars such as David O' Doherty, Mitch Benn, Bo Burnham, Pippa Evans, Isy Suttie and many more.  The 2012 Best Newcomers were Fair & Square, a folk comedy trio that found their way to the Edinburghstage at WeGotTickets’ inaugural showcase last year.
