[PIAS] and YouTube Ink Global Licensing and Marketing Deal

piasentertainment_for_web[PIAS] Entertainment Group, Europe’s leading provider of independent label and artist services, have signed a global licensing and marketing deal with YouTube that enables [PIAS]’s artists and labels to be generate revenues from advertising served alongside wherever their repertoire is used on the service. The global deal covers both official audio and video releases as well as user-generated content featuring repertoire owned by [PIAS] distributed labels. In addition to monetising such content, the agreement enables [PIAS] to work with its 200 distributed labels - which include Dirtee Stank, Wall of Sound, Ninja Tune and Independiente - and YouTube to increase traffic to artist pages. It enables [PIAS] to develop promotional opportunities with third party brands, such as channel sponsorship and other brand partnerships. So, for example, [PIAS] will be able to drive traffic and activity via brand and digital marketing partners directly to an artist’s video or other content safe in the knowledge that the label and artist will see a return on the investment where previously one didn’t exist. These promotional opportunities, together with the global scale of the deal, further enhance [PIAS]’s increasing service offering and compliment the recently launched [PIAS] Digital Marketing and [PIAS] Sync & Brand services. As well as new revenues and promotional opportunities, the labels will now also have the ability to ask [PIAS] to remove content they no longer wish to appear on the YouTube service.Said Patrick Walker, YouTube’s Director of Video Partnerships, EMEA “We’re thrilled to be partnering with [PIAS] to bring its music catalogue to YouTube and to help musicians make money from their work online. Some of the world’s most iconic artists will now be able to engage with their existing fans and win new ones through the music-loving YouTube community.”Commented Adrian Pope, Director of Digital & Business Development [PIAS] Entertainment Group “Providing a return on the investments made by our label and repertoire owners is paramount to the [PIAS] service. The YouTube agreement enables [PIAS] to monetise content on our labels behalf, whilst working with both rights owners and brands to drive traffic to artist channels and other initiatives on an international basis.”The deal is intended to put down another stake in the ground as [PIAS] and major media partners such as YouTube work together going forward to drive revenues for artists and labels, and offers another legitimate channel for marketing great new music.-ends-About [PIAS] Digital Established in January 2004, [PIAS] Digital provides over 200 leading independent labels with a professionally managed route into the ever-growing number of channels for digital distribution.
